John Bunyan (1628-1688) was an English preacher and writer known for writing arguably the most well known and widely read allegory of all time, Pilgrim's Progress. Bunyan was imprisoned several times in his lifetime for preaching the gospel. He wrote a number of books besides Pilgrim's Progress, most notably Holy War and Grace Abounding to The Chief of Sinners.
